Have you ever had a wonderful idea, just to realize that maybe is something you read somewhere else? Or have you ever discarded some of your draft because they were similar to someone else work? Most of the time I find really hard to come up with an idea that it's completely original...

Today, while working on the idea for this week’s column, I spent about two hours on the outline for the idea “1980s Movies That Taught the Wrong Lessons.”  After spending all the time on it, I got the big idea to look it up on Cracked, just to make sure it hadn’t been done before, and there it was.  Not only that, but 4 out of 5 entries were exactly the same movies I had picked for my article.  I had to scrap the whole thing and start on a new idea from scratch.

Another time, I had to rewrite half of an article because it contained two or three entries from an older article written by Soren Bowie.

It doesn’t happen that often, but when it does, it sucks a big ol’ set of flop-balls.
