I bag on teenagers a lot in both my articles and in my non-cracked stomping grounds like Facebook and whatnot… but I’ve been really lucky in the audience that I’ve gained through those columns. I have a very large following of teens who actually know their shit, and it’s an incredible relief to see how open minded this current generation is. Shitheads will always be shitheads, but I seem to attract an honest-to-God group of people who think logically and rationally, and they far outnumber the dipshits.
Just remember to keep your eyes open for what makes sense. Someone may come along and tell you the exact opposite of what I say in my articles, and since each human is obviously different, their advice and observations could hold exactly as much truth. There are no all-encompassing rules of life because what made me a better person could ruin someone else. Yeah, what I write makes sense to me because I’ve lived it, and I can see the exact outcome of my choices. But it may not hold true to everyone.
If you can truly wrap your head around that core idea, you’ve already learned more than most 40 year olds I know. But I believe the sooner people learn that idea, the more successful they’ll be in life. At least on an emotional and spiritual scale.
